Kukkiwon Reappoints Lee Jong-gap as Vice President of Administration

2026 5th Extraordinary Board of Directors Meeting Held on September 1 (Tuesday) at 11:00 a.m.; Appointment Unanimously Approved

Kukkiwon has reappointed Lee Jong-gap as Vice President of Administration.

At 11:00 AM on September 1 (Tue), Kukkiwon held its “2026 5th Extraordinary Board of Directors Meeting” in a Kukkiwon lecture room, with 16 of the Board’s 17 registered directors in attendance. The Board unanimously approved the appointment of Lee Jong-gap as Vice President of Administration.

Under Kukkiwon’s Articles of Incorporation, the Vice President of Administration is appointed from among the directors, upon the recommendation of the President, with the approval of a majority of the incumbent directors, and serves a two-year term.

However, the Articles of Incorporation stipulate that the term of office of the Vice President is subject to the term of office of the director. Accordingly, the term of newly reappointed Vice President Lee Jong-gap will run from November 4, 2026, to October 16, 2028.

Vice President Lee Jong-gap (born 1966) previously served as Director of Kukkiwon’s Planning and Coordination Office, Head of the Management Support Division, and Secretary General of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation. He has served as Kukkiwon’s Vice President of Administration since November 2025.

Vice President of Administration Lee Jong-gap, who was unanimously appointed, shared his thoughts, saying, “I will do my utmost to ensure that Kukkiwon fulfills its role and responsibility as the home of Taekwondo,” adding, “I will move forward toward a single goal, built on trust and respect among our members.”

He continued, expressing his aspirations; “I will foster an organizational culture where staff can fully demonstrate their capabilities, and resolve the diverse and complex conflicts within the Taekwondo community through rational cooperation and transparent management.”

Also at the meeting, the Board approved the ‘Amendment to the Audit Regulations,’ aimed at strengthening the transparency of institutional operations and enhancing the organization’s administrative capacity, as originally proposed.

Through this amendment, Kukkiwon has established the basis for introducing a routine audit system and immunity for proactive administration.
