Kukkiwon successfully hosted the 2026 ROK&U.S. Friendship Armed Forces Combat Taekwondo Exhibition (hereafter the Competition).

Held from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 11, at the gymnasium inside Osan Air Base, the competition featured approximately 400 South Korean military personnel and 350 U.S. military personnel, who competed to showcase the skills they had honed over time.

This year’s competition featured fierce contests across 6 events: Combat Taekwondo Sparring, Knife Hand Breaking, High Jump Kick, Speed Kicking, Team Self-Defense, and Team Poomsae.

Held since 2007, this competition is one of Kukkiwon’s Taekwondo outreach projects aimed at foreigners residing in Korea. Its purpose is to promote friendship and harmony between Korean and American service members.

Recognized as a venue for fostering harmony between Korean and American troops, this competition was hosted by Kukkiwon, organized by the Foreigners in Korea Taekwondo Cultural Association, and held in cooperation with the U.S. 7th Air Force and the U.S. 51st Fighter Wing.

Meanwhile, to revitalize Taekwondo among foreigners residing in Korea and the military, Kukkiwon is conducting Taekwondo education programs at 24 U.S. military bases stationed in South Korea (7 in Dongducheon, 13 in Pyeongtaek, 2 in Daegu, 1 in Seongnam, and 1 in Osan).
