Professor Lim Tae-hee appointed as the new Director of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Research Institute

Letter of appointment presented on Tuesday, March 17, at the Kukkiwon President’s Office... recognized for divers contributions across sports and the Taewondo community

Professor Im Tae-hui of Yong In University has been appointed as the new Director of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Research Institute.

On March 17, at the Kukkiwon President’s Office, Kukkiwon President Yun Ung-suk presented the letter of appointment to Director Im Tae-hui in the presence of executives and staff.

Director Lim Tae-hee, an 8th Dan in Taekwondo, graduated from the Department of Physical Education at Yong In University and earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees in physical education (sports psychology) from Seoul National University.

He has served as Vice Chair of the Research Division of the Korea Taekwondo Association, a specialist researcher at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and a lecturer at the Sports Psychology Research Center of Seoul National University, and has also held positions as a theory instructor at the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Academy and a member of the editorial committee of the Taekwondo Research Institute of Kukkiwon.

In addition, he has continued his research and professional activities, contributing to both Taekwondo and the broader field of sports. He served as a psychological trainer for the Taekwondo national team at the 2012 London Olympics, supported the national team training sports science program in 2013, and acted as a board member of the Korean Society of Sport Psychology.

Director Lim Tae-hee stated, “I will do my utmost to further strengthen the research capabilities of the Taekwondo Research Institute of Kukkiwon and to elevate the academic value and global standing of Taekwondo.”

Meanwhile, the Director is appointed by the President in a non-standing capacity and oversees all operations related to the Taekwondo Research Institute of Kukkiwon.
