[ Etc ] Taekwondo Research Institute of Kukkiwon to Hold Public Hearing for Compilation of Textbook

Taekwondo Research Institute of Kukkiwon (hereinafter referred to as the Research Institute) is going to hold a Public Hearing for Compilation of Textbook (hereinafter referred to as the Public Hearing) to gather various requests and opinions from the field.

 

 

Following the governments social distancing guidance to prevent to spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Public Hearing will be held both online and offline at Geranium Hall, Hotel Samjung, Gangnam-gu, Seoul at 2PM on Friday, September 10.

 

 

Online participation is available via official YouTube Channel of Kukkiwon (www.youtube.com/kukkiwonpr).

 

 

The Public Hearing will include an opening ceremony, reporting by Park, Jong-beom, Director of the Research Institute about the progress of the compilation, and presentations by the authors of the textbook. Authors of each textbook are as follows: Textbook 1 Understanding of Taekwondo by Kim Yeong-seon, Instructor at Yeonsei University; Song Hyeong-seok, Professor at Keimyung University; Lim Tae-hui, Professor at Yong In University, Textbook 2 Basics by Choi Chi-seon, Professor at Korea Military Academy; Lee Song-hak, Professor at Kukkiwon WTA, Textbook 3 Poomsae by Kang Ik-pil, Professor at Kukkiwon WTA; Jeong Tae-seong, Instructor at World Taekwondo Asia, Textbook 4 Gyeorugi by Yang Dae-seung, Professor at Gachon University; Kim Ok-seong, Member of Kukkiwon Technical Committee, Textbook 5 Gyeokpa and Textbook 6 Demonstration by Jang Kwon, Professor at Korea National Sport University; Kwak Taek-yong, Professor at Yong In University.

 

 

Lastly, the special committee, WTA professors, judges, and field instructors will gather to listen to the opinion of the audience.

 

 

To make the most of the Public Hearing, the Research Institute will receive opinion statements with regard to the compilation of textbooks for six days from Tuesday, September 7 to Sunday, September 12.

 

 

Potential attendees can download the materials of the Public Hearing (will be uploaded on September 6) from the Research Institute website (http://research.kukkiwon.or.kr), read through the materials, write down the opinion and send it via email (research@kukkiwon.co.kr).

 

 

After collecting opinions through the Public Hearing, the Research Institute will film a video and revise the manuscripts and plans to complete the compilation of Taekwondo textbooks.

 

 

Kukkiwon had published its first Taekwondo textbooks marking its 15th anniversary of the establishment in November 1987. Since the revision in September 2005, a whole new edition of Taekwondo textbooks is set to be published in 16 years.
