|[ Etc ] Kukkiwon WTA Newly Provides Online Training in Chinese|
Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Academy (WTA) is set to launch online training for the International Taekwondo Master Course in Chinese language.
WTA has been proceeded with a ‘business for development of online training contents in Chinese’ (hereinafter referred to as the “Business”), to develop a website in Chinese and offer a convenient environment to Chinese language users to participate in WTA curricula including the International Taekwondo Master Course.
Also, the Business aims to increase the number of the Kukkiwon’s International Taekwondo Masters in China by providing better access to online education.
Under the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, WTA had prepared and developed the business for nine months since July 2020.
In China, demand for Taekwondo has exponentially increased. As of April 2021, around 280,000 people obtained Kukkiwon Taekwondo Poom and Dan certificates. Following Korea and the U.S, China has ranked third in the number of people holding the Poom, Dan certificates.
The online training was first provided in English in February last year, followed by Korean in September 2020, and Chinese in June this year.
After reviewing the need, WTA will proceed with the online training in other languages as well.
In the meantime, the online training targeting the general public using Chinese will be theory classes, and those who pass the test should take practice classes held by Kukkiwon within two years from the date of passing the exam.
