|[ Etc ] Kukkiwon president Lee Dongsup receives certificate of election and begins official term of office|
President Lee Dongsup, elected as president at Kukkiwons’ second election(by-election) for Kukkiwon President since its establishment, received his Certificate of Election and began his official term of office.
Kukkiwon Election Commission (hereinafter, the Election Commission) delivered the Certificate of Election to President Lee Dongsup at the Certification Ceremony for the By-Election of Kukkiwon President held at 11AM on Friday, 29 January at Kukkiwon’s lecture room.
The ceremony was attended by Kukkiwon executives and employees including Chairman of the Board Jeon Kabkil and Director Chi Byungyun (Acting President) and Taekwondo practitioners who congratulated President Lee.
After receiving the certificate, President Lee said that “this day was made possible by our remarkable seniors including former president Kim Unyong and Uhm Woonkyu and Lee Chongwoo. I will try my best to make Kukkiwon respected and beloved by the world by inheriting their legitimacy, identity, and history.”
“There will be no more Taekwondo politics. Nor will there be clique politics. I will not tolerate anyone who tries to. Please lend me your support. I will make Kukkiwon a friendly place where everyone wants to visit and where employees can enjoy their work,” said Lee.
Chairman Jeon Kabkil said in his congratulatory speech, “I sincerely congratulate the election of Kukkiwon President Lee Dongsup. I would also like to thank the Election Commission officials for their efforts to ensure that the election was held successfully. I know President Lee Dongsup better than anyone else, and I have my full faith in him that he possesses the qualities to lead us into the Renaissance of Kukkiwon.”
Park Huiseung, Head of the Election Commission, said, “Thanks to your interest and support, we were able to complete the election without making grave mistakes. I hope that President Lee will be committed to reviving the pride of Taekwondo practitioners, raising their self-esteem, and uniting us together. I sincerely hope that he will become a Kukkiwon president who can overcome clique conflict and embrace the whole world.”
