Applications for Participation in 2018 Jeju World Taekwondo Hanmadang Begin

 

Applications for Participation Accepted from May 8th to June 15th ... Hanmadang to be Held from

July 28th to 31st at Halla Gymnasium

 

Applications for participation in the 2018 Jeju World Taekwondo Hanmadang (hereinafter Hanmadang), which will fill the air with Taekwondo spirit by the global Taekwondo families this coming July, have begun.

 

This years Hanmadang will be held at Halla Gymnasium for 4 days from July 28th to 31th

(located in Jeju-si, Jeju-do), and is expected to see around 4,000 practitioners from over 60 countries around the world.

 

Held annually by Kukkiwon, the Hanmadang is widely known as a festival that shares the various values of Taekwondo, such as Power Breaking, All-round Breaking, Poomsae, and Taekwondo Aerobic.

 

This year will feature contests in 46 entries in 11 events (34 entries in 7 events for individuals and 12 entries in 4 events for groups).

 

Due to conflicts in scheduling and location, and lack of participation, the former entries of Long Jump Kick Breaking (Record Contest) and Fist Breaking (Power Breaking) were excluded for women.

 

To qualify in the Hanmadang, contestants and executives must all be Kukkiwon Poom or Dan holders, and executives must be registered as Hanmadang representatives.

 

Domestic contestants may participate in one event only, either as an individual or a group, while international contestants may participate in two events as an individual as well as one event as a group. However, in the case of team competitions, both domestic and foreign contestants can participate in multiple events.

 

Those wishing to participate in the Hanmadang can apply to do so by following the procedures listed in the Hanmadang website (http://hanmadang.kukkiwon.or.kr) starting May 8th, with applications closing on June 15th at 5 pm.

 

The entry fee must be paid during the separate period after applications are over. Payments must be made by card, and account payments are only possible in special cases where payments by card are not possible.

 

The entry fees are as follows

Individual Contests - KRW 30,000 for domestic contestants and USD 30 for foreign contestants

Group Contests  Authorized Poomsae and Creative Poomsae (Per Team) KRW 70,000 for domestic teams and USD 70 for foreign teams, Taekwondo Aeorobics and Team Competition (Per Team) KRW 100,000 for domestic teams and USD 100 for foreign teams
