Participation from 33 Masters Dispatched to 32 Countries around the World Education Held for 8 Days from March 12th to 19th

Kukkiwon (President OH Hyundeuk) concluded the 2018 Kukkiwon Maintenance Education for Masters Dispatched Overseas (hereinafter referred to as Maintenance Education) conducted to enhance the qualifications of Taekwondo Masters who had been dispatched overseas.

A total of 40 executives and staffs of Kukkiwon, including Kukkiwon General Director of Affairs Department Oh Dae-yeoung, and Taekwondo Masters dispatched overseas attended the maintenance educations closing ceremony, which was held at Lecture Room No. 1 of Kukkiwon at 4:00 pm on March 19th (Mon.).

The maintenance education, which began with the opening ceremony on March 12th (Mon.), was held for a total of 8 days until the 19th at Kukkiwon and Kyungdong Academy (located in Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do) with all Kukkiwon Taekwondo Masters who had been dispatched overseas in attendance.

Currently, there are 33 Taekwondo Masters dispatched overseas in 32 countries, with 16 in Asia (15 countries), 3 in Europe (3 countries), 7 in Pan-America (7 countries), and 7 in Africa (7 countries).

Since 2009, Kukkiwon has been dispatching Taekwondo Masters to other countries with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to supply Taekwondo to developing countries and strategic countries and expand the base of Taekwondo.

Since 2013, Kukkiwon has held yearly maintenance education to enhance the qualification and capabilities of Taekwondo Masters who have been dispatched overseas, as well as to come up with measures to expand the base of Taekwondo.

The maintenance education was composed of various subjects and lessons, ranging from overseas safety, first aid, sexual harrassment prevention, character and mentality, methods for requesting the dispatch of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, how to use computers, and overseas insurances to a special lecture on cultivating insight into Korea and national awareness, and focused on practical lessons required to properly instruct Taekwondo (Poomsae, Gyeorugi, self-defense, new Poomsae, and demonstrations).

In his address at the closing ceremony, Kukkiwon General Director of Affairs Department Oh Dae-yeoung said, Taekwondo Masters who have been dispatched overseas have a great responsibility to distribute and spread Taekwondo as the representatives of not just Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, but Korea, the motherland of Taekwondo, as well. He continued, saying, I hope that you will all devote yourselves to behaving in a manner that does not bring shame to your status as Taekwondo Masters.

Kukkiwon is also planning on building a computerized operation system in order to maximize the efficiency of administrative tasks for projects related to Taekwondo Masters who have been dispatched overseas.
