Kukkiwon President OH Hyun Deuk received the Grand Prize in The 4th Global Leadership Awards in the area of Contribution to the Development of Sports.

 

The 4th Global Leadership Awards, hosted by the Global Journalists Club, was held at The Patriot Yun Bong-gil Memorial on June 24 (Fri.) with more than 500 award winners and interested parties present.

 

The Global Leadership Awards are given to people who have contributed to the development of society. People are recommended according to social category and their contributions to society are reviewed before the awards are given.

 

President OH Hyun Deuk was awarded the Grand Prize for playing a significant role in improving the value of Taekwondo and making social contributions with Taekwondo while working for the Ministry of National Defense and Kukkiwon. Taekwondo is a representative martial arts of Korea and a sports chosen as an event for the Olympic Games.

 

In his award acceptance speech, President OH Hyun Deuk said, Taekwondo Spirit lies in making this society a place where people can live together with understanding and consideration, and added, Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, will lead the development of Taekwondo and increase its opportunities to contribute to society from its position at the center of Taekwondo.

 

The recipients of this years The Global Leadership Awards include President OH Hyun Deuk of Kukkiwon, Uri Gutman, the Israel Ambassador in South Korea, Oscar Gustavo Herrera Gilbert, the Ecuador Ambassador in South Korea, Albino Malungo, the Angola Ambassador in South Korea, Deputy Speaker Park Joo-sun, and Member of the National Assembly Kim Hack Yong.
