Kukkiwon is putting its heart and soul into distributing and spreading Taekwondo.

Kukkiwon officials, led by Kukkiwon President OH Hyundeuk, visited Iran and Thailand in succession to hold various events to distribute Taekwondo and hold business meetings with major figures.

Kukkiwon officials visited Iran first and held the Kukkiwon Special Promotion Test at the Taekwondo House of Iran Taekwondo Federation located in Tehran, the capital of Iran, for 4 days from February 14th to 17th.

A total of 532 Iranian Taekwondo Dan holders participated in this special test. On the 14th and 15th, Poomsae education was conducted, and Dan Promotion Test was conducted on the 16th and 17th.

This special promotion test was arranged to seek the revitalization of testing and raise the value of Dan Certificates, in consideration of the circumstances of Iran, which lacked Kukkiwon Taekwondo Dan holders.

Furthermore, Kukkiwon signed a MOU with the Iran Taekwondo Federation, clarifying the essential businesses such as testing, education, and competitions, and decided to give consideration to holding Kukkiwon Cup Championships in Iran and the Taekwondo Hanmadang(in the Middle Eastern region).

In addition, Kukkiwon officials met with the president of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran and vice president of the Youth and Sports Bureau sequentially to confirm the will for continuous mutual cooperation, and promised to investigate the feasibility of establishing Kukkiwon branch offices to distribute systemized and standardized Taekwondo to prepare a framework to expand the Taekwondo training population.

The Kukkiwon officials, having achieved their initial goal in Iran, moved to Thailand on February 18th and participated in the Thailand Kukkiwon Cup Championship held in the Bangkokthonburi Universitys gymnasium in Bangkok, Thailand.

This championship was first created by Master Choi Youngseok in 2013 to raise the competitiveness of Taekwondo in Southeast Asia, and was raised to the status of Kukkiwon Cup this year, allowing it to receive support from Kukkiwon. Master Choi Youngseok is the head coach of the Thai National Taekwondo Team as well as an overseas master dispatched by Kukkiwon.

Kukkiwon President OH Hyundeuk presented the opening address in this tournament, and through interviews with 5 Thai media outlets, emphasized the activities of Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, and excellence of Taekwondo, contributing to enhancing Kukkiwons image and distributing Taekwondo.

Furthermore, through the business meeting with the Taekwondo Association of Thailand, developmental directions were proposed and opinions were exchanged on matters such as training Masters to revitalize Taekwondo in Thailand for the long term, Taekwondo education in schools in Thailand, and using the Kukkiwon Cup Championship as the first step leading up to holding the Taekwondo Hanmadang in Southeast Asia in the future.
