Dobok also hold the Spiritual meaning
Dressing is one section of a culture. Depending on the circumstances of that certain period of time, the forms may change, passing through a stage of development. In this stage, it is very difficult for a nation to maintain the purity of their culture. This is why dressing, which is one section of a certain culture, may change its form depending on the current of the times. Taekwondo Dobok, also, may have gone through changes in form, depending on the current of the times. The very first Dobok, which was made with livelihood and means of self-defense, became the Dobok it is today, through transformation, expropriation, and development.

Dobok is a reflection of essence and value of Moodo
Taekwondo Dobok consists of pants, top, and Tti (belt).  Except for the Tti, the pants and top is white in color.  Therefore, people ask the question, ¡°Why is the Taekwondo Dobok white?¡±  The strongest theory is that because it was believed that the essence of the universe, and the origin of all things are in color white.

Also, another theory is that Korea as the ¡®Baekeuiminjok(ÛÜëýÚÅðé-the white-clad nation)¡¯, Taekwondo practitioners in the olden days preferred the color white.  Holding such meaning as holiness, purity, innocence, and nobility, the color white suits exactly with essence of Taekwondo; and there are opinions that this is the reason why the Taekwondo uniform is in white.
Yong-Kyu Ahn, a Taekwondo professor at the Korea National Sports University said that, ¡°Color of white Dobok can be from the theory of historical tradition of our ancestors¡¯ preference of colorlessness.¡± and also added, ¡°The martial artistic philosophy of Dobok in Taekwondo is in ¡®Doeui (Ô³ëî-moral principal)¡¯ of maintaining Dobok clean and improving one¡¯s mind and body.¡±
Most of Taekwondo practitioners do not object to Taekwondo Dobok being white.  Instead they agree that color white reflects the martial art essence and value of Taekwondo very well. A notable Taekwondo scholar said, ¡°Because Taekwondo is a Korean traditional martial art, Taekwondo should keep the white Dobok in accordance with historical tradition and philosophical meaning of ¡®Baekeuiminjok¡¯.¡±
However, groups of people have different opinion.  They say that, ¡°Believing that Taekwondo Dobok must be white because Korea is ¡®Baekeuiminjok¡¯ is wrong.¡± They explain their theory by saying, ¡°The traditional colors of Korea consists of five colors, which are blue, white, red, black, and yellow.  This means that we should not just focus on keeping Dobok white, but we should adopt the five colors of Korea.¡±
